Women's fight for equalityWomen weren't always as on top of the food chain alongside the men. They had to fight for their right to vote. Usually women were expected to stay at home and cook, clean, and cater to their husband's needs, and make sure the children are well taken care of. The first gathering for Women's Rights wa in Seneca Falls with the main leaders Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucrettia Mot 100 people attended and Stanton drafted basically a Declaration of Independence but for Women. After this meeting ages later women began to challenge the social "norms" for them. This included family duties, and a lack of educational and economic opportunities. Susan B Anthony then came into the picture and vowed to be a full out activist for Women's rights. After all of the movements that took place, the women were soon granted their right to vote. Their struggle for rights was surely not over though, they battled throughout years just to have the right to work and to express their freedom, this came up in the early 1920's. These movements were important because, without them women wouldn't be able to become independent at all in America. They'd probably still be serving men and waiting on them hand and foot, to desire their every need. Women are equal, but not fully this battle still goes on in America, but women have come a long way.
